Norm’s Geezer Cruise

Norm’s Geezer Cruise

Norm recently turned 40 and wanted to get the cars out and blow the cobwebs out of ‘em, so he put together the “Geezer” cruise!! Age is a state of mind, and I don’t think any “Geezers” were there, unless you count our cars!! Saturday. 10:47 AM. Lowe’s parking lot, Livermore. The Small Block Chevy ratio is only 50% in this picture. It’s...

1970 Dodge Challenger hits the road! (again!)

1970 Dodge Challenger hits the road! (again!)

1970 Dodge Challenger hits the road! (again!) Drove my Challenger to John’s Burger finally, and the day after took it out for a couple pictures! I worked hard all Friday to get it in an epoxy primer, and everything fough me along the way. The wind kicked up as soon as I put the mixed primer into the gun. My good gun is clogged so I tried one of those $20 Walmart guns, and it isn’t...

1970 Dodge Challenger Shaker Hood Conversion

1970 Dodge Challenger Shaker Hood Conversion

1970 Dodge Challenger Shaker Hood Conversion! Chrysler’s “Incredible Quivvering Air Grabber”, the Shaker scoop. It’s a fresh scoop about the size of a small garbage can lid bolted to the top of the engine. Collected the important parts first, and the baseplate is on it’s way. I’ll collect the rest along the way. Original flat hood to my 1970 Challenger No...

She’s a Runner!

She’s a Runner!

My 1970 Dodge Challenger You can’t hear it, but she’s running!! Finally, the wiring has been figured out enough that she starts and runs on the key, and I just finished POR-15ing the front and rear window channels, have installed the trim clips, and hope to get the front and rear glass installed. The power steering system has been figured out, and sports a new pump! Still need...

1970 Dodge Challenger – Electrical Work

1970 Dodge Challenger – Electrical Work

The dash harness in the Challenger is not from a 1970 year like the car is, so there’s been a little headscratching along the way. Eventually I want to get the headlights working via a Bosch relay, but I’ll put that on the to-do list for now.  Read More →

Welding Pinholes and Por-15

Welding Pinholes and Por-15

1970 Dodge Challenger Finished welding up the last pinholes in the rear window channel, might get it POR 15′d this weekend, and the glass, weatherstrips, and reveal molding clips installed. The electrical is draggin’ on, having some unexpected issues. Tail lights work, wipers work, and the starter relay makes clicking noises, but no power to the gauges, no headlights, and other...

The Challenger finally gets another 440!

The Challenger finally gets another 440!

I had bought and dumped a 440 into the Coupe to replace the 383 and had a revelation one night while working on the back of the Model A; The Challenger needs the 440. Just an quiet Sunday around the house. The 440 in the Model A. A quite empty engine bay in my 1970 Dodge Challenger. What’s going on here? The scariest part was hanging all that weight over the grill and radiator...

Challenger Bug strikes again!!

Challenger Bug strikes again!!

Lately I’ve had the Challenger bug again, so I’ve been trying to get the electrical done in the car. I figure a few more hours and I’ll have it done, then maybe move onto some more body work, and get a fresh coat of primer on it, maybe even paint! I think I’d like to do a 440 again, that makes 3 times I’ve changed my mind since the original 440 spun a bearing.  Read More →

Working on the Challenger again!

Reassembling a dashboard for the Dodge… sorta… The old dash in my Challenger was a total disaster. There were Autometer Gauges hacked in the cluster, speaker wire not being used to wire speakers, the signals didn’t work. The one saving grace was a 150 speedometer out of who knows what that was an exact match for the E-body piece. This is a whole dash assembly out of a...

1970 Dodge Challenger – Primer and a Pistolgrip

We’re finally getting somewhere! After knocking off almost eight layers of old paint and primer, we get down to bare metal. To keep it from rusting immediately, we spray a layer of old high-fill primer on it. Looks good! Of course, a quick shot of the Pistol Grip shifter that I bought off the eBay!  Read More →
