Goodbyes and Hellos

Goodbyes and Hellos

With the birth of my little boy Cam I recently purchased a Durango as a family vehicle/truck and no longer needed the old ’57 Chevy truck, so I put it up for sale on Craigslist. \ After dealing with a handful of mutants, a gentleman came down, made an decent offer, and cleared out my stash of Chevy truck parts. He seemed like a nice fellow, hope he’s enjoying putting it back...

Water Pump Failure, x 2!

Water Pump Failure, x 2!

It was a Sunday and I was headed down Highway 99 out to the Modesto Pick-N-Pull to look for parts for my nuevo Valiant when i hear a pop, a bang, and then stuff bouncing off the firewall and engine compartment. everything was still looking normal on the gauges for a little bit, and then the temperature gauge started to climb. I pulled into a gas station in Salida, just outside of Modesto,...

It’s a Runner! (again!)

It’s a Runner! (again!)

Justin helped me finally get the truck going, but something just wasn’t right. After a quick maiden voyage to Livermore, Pete diagnoses the problem as a miss and invites me over to fix the issue. Here we are at Pete’s place with the truck in the driveway. I think we just figured out which cylinder it was and remedied the situation. I learned a lot today. Thanks a ton Pete!! After...

My Truck and the 307 Fiasco

My Truck and the 307 Fiasco

My truck had been engine-less for several months. The 350 that was in it failed. Not spectacularly like my small block Chevys usually do, but it still failed. More details below… I’d had a few prospects for replacement, but they didn’t work out because I was a cheap bastard, or they would sell quicker than I could get to them, or some other reason. A couple weeks ago...

My 1957 Chevy 3100 Pickup Truck

My 1957 Chevy 3100 Pickup Truck

7.13.08 I’ve put 7000 miles on this heap since I got it running a while ago. It’s my daily driver, and was knocking out 17 MPG @ 70 MPH on the freeway the last time I checked, with no vacuum advance or thermostat! I’ve since put an another distributor in it, with a vacuum advance, so hopefully it’s picked up a little bit! The red door is a nice one Jake gave me....

Totally Loaded!!

Totally Loaded!!

Just another scrap metal run! Had to grab a picture, I think I had a ton (literally!) in the back of the truck, and it was low-riding!  Read More →

Another Trip to the Coast in the 1957 Chevy Truck

Roadtrip to the Coast!

Roadtrip to the Coast!

Greg and I headed to the Moss Beach to pick up a pair of 15×8.5 slotted mags, and I had to stop a couple times along the way to snap a few pictures. This first picture when I pulled over on Highway 92 (or was it 35?) is kind of freaky, because there appears to being someone or something watchin us from between the trees. Not really because I’m afraid of ghosts, but I just took...

Spin Out on the Freeway!

Spin Out on the Freeway!

Fourth of July, 2007! So it’s almost fireworks time, I get in my truck to go over to a buddy’s place to watch the festivities. I’m tooling down freeway doing about 70, and I get a funny vibration, and then the whole truck (’57 Chevy) goes sideways, which then starts spinning. I end up sliding off the road into the ditch between Vasco and First St. When I left the...
