Simple Sunday Cruise

Simple Sunday Cruise

So, I’ve been itching to drive the Model A lately. A new high volume/pressure fuel pump now adequately feeds the blown 283, and it’s a little rocket on my late night test drives, but I wanted to get out and really stretch its legs. Saturday I cruised it out to Livermore, and aside from being stuck in a short downpour, it buzzed along without a problem. I didn’t get any...

Muddy Butthole!!

Muddy Butthole!!

On part of a simple Sunday cruise I stopped by my favorite muddy pull off and Matt snapped a few good shots of me flinging the Model A through some mud puddles, always something I enjoy. Maybe a local dirt track would let me play for a while sometime? At any rate, thanks Matt for the great pictures!!  Read More →

Bondo Bandito!

Bondo Bandito!

Earlier Justin and Jason stopped by and pounded on the sheetmetal for a while, and after getting it somewhat close it was getting a little late, Justin had to work, so they took off. I didn’t get any pictures while they were hammering, kicking, heated, gas welded, and twisted the body back into a more reasonable shape. I don’t think I had drank enough beer to think about it...

No-Bolt SBC Vibration Dampener Falls Off

No-Bolt SBC Vibration Dampener Falls Off

Yep, pretty much what title says. Seems like some people never have a problem, even with high RPM 327s, and others have had it happen multiple times. I figure the extra load of the supercharger may have had something to do with it. Luckily, I was only a block or so from home and it wasn’t spinning at a higher RPM! Yep, there it is, laying on the steering linkage. Drilling and tapping...

Wet and Muddy Saturday Drive

Wet and Muddy Saturday Drive

It was a rainy Saturday, what better thing to do than take your topless (and windshield-less!!) Hot Rod out for a spin? I was caught in a downpour once, but I still enjoyed the drive. Other people must have thought I was crazy, though. I wore safety goggles (with yellow tint for that U2/Euro-homo look) which kept the rain out of my eyes but rain drops hitting your face at 50 or 60 mph still...

Test Run with the McCulloch Supercharger!

Test Run with the McCulloch Supercharger!

It was freakin’ awesome!!! The little 283 pulled the car around pretty good before, now its a little rocketship!! The way the engine runs is incredible, with more power on tap, it spins ‘em and goes sideways easy!! I drove the crap out of this thing and I disrupted the peace!! Wasn’t too cold, but it’s pretty windy without a windshield. Swung by a Kyle’s...

One Beat Model A

One Beat Model A

A carb rebuild finally make the beater-bucket much more drivable, and just in time for winter! These pictures should show you why exactly I’ve been looking for real roadster quarter panels. I’m a little hesitant to pack ‘em with bondo, but that might just have to do for now… I still haven’t driven it with the supercharger, either, but that’s probably...

My First Time Being Blown!

My First Time Being Blown!

McCulloch Supercharged Chevy 283 This is it! I have been dinkin’ around with this McCulloch/Paxton junk for years, but tonight I actually made it happen! I had been mocking it up, finished up getting the new radiator ready to go on, and I said, “Awww….. what the hell!” I was really close, but I would have to fudge a few things temporarily; I loosen an re-clocked...

Another Paxton Supercharger Mockup

Another Paxton Supercharger Mockup

When I started screwing the Model A together again as a roadster, I cut out a bracket to bolt a Paxton Supercharger to the 283 in it. I didn’t have the time at the time to finish it up then, but I have to swap radiators and it would be easy to get to the front of it, I decided to play around with it. I needed to figure out some sort of drive setup for the supercharger. I’d...

Almost Road Worthy!

Almost Road Worthy!

I’ve driven it a few times already, but it needed a little more timing, a little more exhaust baffling, and all around a little more work. Time for a few more test runs, two weeks until Model A Mike’s Mountain Ranch Get-Together! I would love to have a windshield in it, but we’ll see if that happens!  Read More →
