January 2008 Features

Rainy weekend in the California East Bay!

The rain was as predicted, keeping us local crazies off the street - for now!

Al's 1955 Chevy Gasser

Stopped in over Al's house for an update on his Chevrolet. This project is moving right along, should be tearing up the road this spring!

It starts and runs by the key now, he told me of an incident recently where he started it in reverse. The rest of the electrical is getting done, he was installing the lights for the rear license plate when I snapped these pictures.

The 454 runs smoothly, I have a couple movies to post as soon as I get them uploaded. He can't wait to get the dual quad tunnel ram installed!

Lastly, a picture of the interior. Insulation, gauges, and the evidence of the massive wiring task underway. Looking excellent, Al!!

Greg's Ranchero Gasser

Greg finally sees the fruits of his labor, the Pontiac 400 powered Ranchero gasser is a runner now, and really hauls some serious cookies! I can't wait to see it run down the track!

The dual Carter carb setup for the 400 in the Ranchero. There's also been some talk of Offenhauser crossrams. Greg also has some badass lift bars he plans on installing when he can get it into the garage.

Justin's 1954 GMC truck

More can found here: Justin's 1954 GMC Truck Page

Justin's alcohol injected Cadillac powered '54 GMC has been garage-ridden since he bent the torque arm the last trip out to the drag strip.

The uber-badass new torque arm. To quote Justin, "At 500 horsepower, the old one was fine, but at about 700 horsepower it became inadequate". Or something like that. Right now he's taking measurements to find the perfect front mounting location for ultimate dragstrip launch and hook up.

Andee's 1953 Packard Clipper Deluxe

As you can see from the pictures, the body has a few blemishes, and the cloth interior has seen better days, but the straight eight still runs! The former owner was looking to restore it, and nearly had it complete, until he passed away. The Packard was purchased from a family in Livermore, complete with a Hustler magazine under the front seat!.

Mark's Chevy Impala Wagon

I know little about it, other than it was near free, and he's got a beautiful location to snap photos!

1970 Dodge Challenger

More can found here: Scott's 1970 Dodge Challenger Page

Finished welding up the last pinholes in the rear window channel, might get it POR 15'd this weekend, and the glass, weatherstrips, and reveal molding clips installed.

The electrical is draggin on, having some unexpected issues. Tail lights work, wipers work, and the starter relay makes clicking noises, but no power to the gauges, no headlights, and other electrical gremlins.

Mike's 1930 Model A Ford Coupe

I caught it sitting in the driveway on Saturday and had to come over and get pictures. Fresh finish and lots of chrome, it's looking really good!!

Did I fail to mention lots of chrome? In the background "Model A Mike" is talking to a buddy about a brake issue on the car.

A shot from the rear. This is one nice Coupe!!
